Snowcatcher  > Treasures > High Country > Rocky Mountain National Park
I miss living so near RMNP that I could hike every morning and evening before and after work. I don't make enough trips to the Park now, and current journeys are marred by rust-colored forests as pine beetles inflict the first stage of a landscape transformation I wish didn't have to happen, even though one day quaking aspen and brilliant fireweed will fill in all the gaps dead lodgepoles eventually will leave behind.

This gallery includes recent photos, as well as older ones of some of my favorite spots prior to the serious onset of the pine beetles.

Clouds move in over the Mummy Range.
Yes, it's retouched. It's two photos. The elk's head wasn't visible in the main photo, and the flowers weren't as still in the second one. So I combined the best elements of the two.
